A principal consultant in Hatch’s Advisory team giving technical advice and completing technical and economic due-diligence reviews for companies and financial institutions. This has been in support of project finance, mergers and acquisitions and working capital loans including being the independent technical consultant for financial institutions for several projects, the EMAL Phase I and II Smelter in Abu Dhabi being an example. Ross’s advice is based on a PhD in Material Science, BSc in Physics and a 30-year career in the technical aspects of materials and processing, spanning minerals processing, smelting and downstream metal processing. Previous positions included being the technical authority for a Carpenter Technology facility which included a foundry and rolling mill and Rio Tinto Alcan’s Lynemouth aluminium smelter, specialising in the management and development of manufacturing processes; devising, adapting and executing improvements. He is a strong advocate of continuous improvement, being qualified in the Lean 6-Sigma programme and experienced in operating within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
